Ok, so we've got absolutely loads of things going on here at the moment with new EPs and albums coming out out of our ears....

12th July sees the lauded album track 'Philadelphia' get the single treatment alongside the so far unreleased B-side, the really rather ace 'Don't Tell'.

The Longcut have just released their new remix EP 'Broken Hearts' hot on the heels of last years long-play 'Open Hearts'. Seemingly not giving themselves chance to gain a breath, they've enlisted the wizardry of friends and contemporaries, such as Toro Y Moi and Gallops, to take the seven tracks to new musical dimensions.

There's also an ace video to go with the new, lean edit, of title track 'Open Hearts:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vk8dugjXMLc

This one is a digital only release available for just £4 from our online shop, you can get it now in high quality FLAC and MP3: http://thelongcut.melodic.co.uk/

Windmill have also followed suit with their new digital offering, the 'Ellen Save Our Energy EP'. Taking a new edit of one of the album’s stand-out moments as its lead track, the EP includes three remixes of Epcot Starfields album tracks and a 15-minute podcast in which Windmill answers questions from fans. Included in the package are also videos for Big Boom & Ellen Save Our Energy. The latter , directed by Steve Glashierof , is a great piece of sci-fi imagery which you can check out below:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b25mQU06SX4

Although officially only released on July 5th you can grab this one from us now direct:

Autumn
08-10-2009

Melodic has much stuff out of late and we thought we better tell you about it…

First are The Longcut whose 2nd album is released this week to some nice praise indeed:

‘they've created one of 2009's most diverse records’ 8/10 Drowned In Sound
‘Initially hyped as heirs apparent to Joy Division, the Manchester trio actually turn out to be the new New Order on this dark disco slow-burner.’ 4/5 The Times
‘Spoiled for choice for highlights’ 4/5 The Fly
‘It's as good - if not better than - the first.’ NME

They set off on a UK tour in just under a week:

Oct 12th - Manchester, Academy 3*
Oct 16th - Glasgow, King Tuts
Oct 17th - Oxford, Audioscope Festival
Oct 18th - Southampton, Talking Heads
Oct 19th - London, Cargo
Oct 20th - Leeds, Brudenell Social Club
Oct 21st - York, Fibbers
Oct 22nd - Liverpool, Evol@Korova
Oct 23rd - Cardiff, Swn Festival
Oct 24th - Bristol, Start The Bus

*Exclusive! For the Manchester show there’s a FREE full-album download with each order from Ticketline for one week only (Oct 5th – 9th)

http://www.ticketline.co.uk/artist/the-longcut

Also, there’s a very cheeky, lovely Toro Y Moi remix of ‘Repeated’ by The Longcut floating around the intraweb. You might be able to hear it here:
http://pitchfork.com/forkcast/13404-repeated-toro-y-moi-remix/

There are a handful of Windmill live shows left on his European live tour, best checking his Myspace: http://www.myspace.com/windmillband

And after lots of crazy manufacturing nightmares copies of the Rec.tangle, Soundcarriers and Windmill are now available in their vinyl editions – been getting lots of lovely feedback regarding Soundcarriers’ in particular. Heavyweight vinyl, varnished sleeve… though the labels are the most exciting things if you ask me. They have a live show in London at the Sonic Cathedral night at The Legion on 26th October.

Check http://www.melodic.co.uk for the latest release info and we also now have a lot of the older back catalogue albums available as £4 downloads. In the meantime check our brand new signings if you want, Standard Fare: http://www.myspace.com/standardfare

Newsletter
26-06-2009

Here we go then, our (seemingly) yearly newsletter.

Instant downloads:
First off, we’ve brought in a new system with all releases on Melodic, just about as soon as the album is mastered you’d normally be in for a 3-4 month wait until the album would be actually released. We’re now releasing albums immediately where you can pre-order the CD or vinyl or whatever and receive the download right away (MP3 or FLAC) or you can just buy the download of course. This is available from The Soundcarriers just out to The Longcut’s new album out in October, only direct from Melodic.

The Soundcarriers
http://www.myspace.com/thesoundcarriers

Debut album 'Harmonium' is out now or at least the CD version is. Thanks to vinyl manufacturing headaches we're hoping we'll have vinyl stock in about 3 weeks' time… but it will be lovely, 2 pieces of 180 gram heavyweight in a gatefold sleeve. They’re also on tour from next week supporting the wonderful White Denim at the following UK shows:

Rec.tangle

Next up a debut album by an artist signed to Melodic around 8 years ago... It’s been a long wait. Rec.tangle has released tracks before as Topo Gigio. Released on 20th July we think it’s a lush instrumental Kraut/prog opus. You can pre-order the album on CD / download and vinyl at http://rectangle.melodic.co.uk/ but be warned, more vinyl manufacturing problems are meaning the vinyl version will be delayed by around a month.

Eddy Current Suppression Ring

Primary Colours won the Australian Music Prize as their album of the year recently and is ‘reminiscent of Can – or, perhaps, of The Fall at their most Can-indebted.’ Says Uncut (4 stars). You can order the album on CD / download and vinyl at http://ecsr.melodic.co.uk/
